Animatic wines tail

Updated storyboard winestail

Image
After showing my updates of my storyboard to the group, It was decided they wanted to keep my original storyboard instead of changes, with just a few refinements. Although this storyboard is very similar to the first, I have changed the background and added more frames, I have also made the characters come forward towards the screen. Also, the ratio is now landscape more fitting for putting into an animatic, and the composition of the characters is made for an easier transition. here is the updated images:

Ideas for Happy places scene/refining composition

Idea 1. In this composition, I have used leading lines using plants to lead to the candle; I have tried to make the plants leafs hit the rule of thirds points so that it's more aesthetically pleasing. Idea 2.

Keyframes of my scene for 'Happy Places'

Logo design - Happy Places

Experimenting further with marketing for the collaboration 'Happy Places', I found a way to represent almost everyone's work. Using Adobe Photoshop, I masked the teams background art onto the letters of Happy places; something I was unaware of how to do, but with experimenting learnt to do.

Possible update of character

Image
I want to update my characters design to enable more movement of hair and be more expressive, the only issue is  is the design economical and getting it to fit the style of my film.

Developing my storyboard/ideas rough

Image
As mentioned in earlier posts, I wish to  tell the story through character emotions- character expressions, body language and overall character performance. I want the story to be lead by emotions. Which may call for redoing style frames and colour scripts- and redoing character design to allow for more expressiveness.  Re-evaluating  my storyboard, I have been experimenting with parts to add to the story and reworking shots. In this part Iv made the scene end on character one; signalising their importance to  the story,  as the main character. It also allows me to better work logic with the reflection scene. I edited this part of the story to show her hiding her emotions- an critical mistake, leading to the downfall of her well-being. Instead of the second character being shown as 'ignorant' to her emotions, I wanted her to purposely hide her feelings. In this edit/rough sketch, I decided to remove the part showing him fall asleep, bu...

Things become darker and cloudy. My character in her darkest moment. She strays from the light and her mind has gone clouded and dark, she thinks there is no hope. Reunited. She reunites with her friend and they share an embrace as the sunrises. There is still dark things, but they are now up in the air and ready for communication. There is a new hope.

Boat design

Image
Boat design: Using my Ipad pro, I used the app 'Procreate' to design the boat; and draw different sides. I decided to pre-draw the boat instead of animating it in T.v paint; to be more economical, especially since  iv spent more time redoing my storyboards. I plan to save the file as a PSD, allowing me to transfer it into Adobe Photoshop for easy editing, or into Adobe After effects for  animating.  My boats design is rather simplistic, I have used a mix of line and water brush tool to give an illustrative look. The use of the light on one side of the boat is a metaphor in the story telling and characters. In the beginning the first character is in the shaded part, and watches the other character in the light who is happy- and compares herself to him. The light is also used as a metaphor of hope- when the first character is missing and the second cant see her, he blows out the lantern, representing her death. Despite this light being gone, there will be a new light...

Storyboard research:

Each storyboard panel needs to have a point,  evoke an emotional response, and be visually appealing   (Paez, 2017, p.10).  Using shapes to create emotional responses: 'Horizontals gives the feeling of calm static, verticals are more calm but more active, diagonals are most active.'  (Paez, 2017, p.12).  'parallels gives us a sense of stateliness and order, asymmetry gives a sense of chaos and disorder'  (Paez, 2017, p.14).  Page 14 'Circles, ovals and curves envoke feelings of friendless, fun and happiness'  (Paez, 2017, p.17) 'Squares, rectangles, and right angels envoke feelings of formality and order, triangles create a feeling of aggression and dynamism'  (Paez, 2017, p.18) Focal point: Primary focal point: one focal point, central Secondary focal point: two focal points, a main and second focus.. updating my storyboard for my short fable

Image
What I need to improve : As stated by Paez (2017), each panel needs to serve a purpose. My first shot serves the purpose of establishing the location. The second shot to the forth is dynamic movement (hence the lack of visual attraction.) these shots are a transition. The next shots are not needed, hence the red cross. The second red crossed shot is not logically correct in the sense of reflections, and needs to be replaced by a shot showing her head poking up across from the boat. I want to focus on her facial expression- it's an introduction to the first character and her emotions.  Once again, I am removing the teardrop scene as it serves no purpose. I want to change the tear wipe and eye look to be in the reflection. I may remove the leaves as the eye line is enough to direct the view to the other character. I need to rework on composition on some of the shots to make them more aesthetically pleasing. Whats is essential for me is to get the emotions of both characters ...
